No accounts, no analytics, no tracking.
microclimates.today does not ask who you are and has no way of finding out. There is no sign-in, no analytics script, no advertising, no tracking pixel, and no cookie set by this site. Nothing you do here is recorded against you, because there is no “you” to record it against.
The same is true of the iOS app. Apple’s privacy label for it reads Data Not Collected, and that is the whole story.
What this site stores
on your device, not on a serverA few pages remember a preference using your browser’s local storage. That data never leaves your device and is not readable by this site’s server:
Webcams you addLocal
Cameras you add on the webcams page are saved locally so they are still there next time. Clearing your browser data — or deleting the app — removes them.
Layout and display preferencesLocal
The stacked-versus-grid webcam layout, and the fog tracker’s tone-curve settings, are remembered the same way.
What the server sees
ordinary request logsThis site runs on Cloudflare Workers. Like any web server, it receives the requests your browser makes — including your IP address and user-agent string — and Cloudflare retains those standard request logs for its own operational and security purposes under its privacy policy. Nothing is added to that: no identifiers are assigned, no profiles are built, and request data is not sold, shared, or used to track anyone across sites.
The site’s own APIs are read-only. They accept no personal information because they ask for none.
Third-party content
the part worth knowing aboutSome pages embed content served by other companies. When you view those pages your browser talks to those services directly, and they can see that request and apply their own privacy policies — exactly as if you had opened them yourself. This site cannot see or control what they collect.
Live webcam playersEmbedded
The webcams page embeds streams from YouTube, Twitch, IPCamLive, WetMet, and local news providers, and still images from AlertCalifornia and others. Some of those players carry their own advertising and measurement.
Maps and forecast graphicsEmbedded
Map tiles come from CARTO, the mapping library from unpkg, the wind map from Ventusky, and the seven-day forecast images from ABC7.
Weather data comes from the National Weather Service and satellite imagery from NOAA GOES-18 via RealEarth. Those are fetched by the server, not by your browser, so they never see you at all. There is a full accounting of every source on the about page.
The iOS app
Data Not CollectedThe Microclimates iOS app is a client for this site, made by the same person who runs it. It has no accounts, no analytics, and no third-party SDKs. It requests no permissions — not location, not notifications, not contacts, not the camera. It does not know where you are; the conditions it shows are for the Bay Area regardless of where you open it.
Preferences and the last conditions reading are cached on your device so the app can show something useful before the network answers. Deleting the app deletes all of it. The webcam and map screens display the same embedded third-party content described above.
Children
This site is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes and contact
If this policy ever changes, the revised version will appear on this page. Since nothing is collected, there is nothing to request, correct, or delete — but if you have a question, reach me at luke@gmail.com.
